Police and firefighters attacked in Zurich: One police officer injured

Several masked youths attacked the police with bottles and fireworks. Yesterday evening's riots in Zurich, where several dozen people set fire to the area around the barracks and then attacked the police and firefighters, were only calmed down after officers used rubber bullets, tear gas and a water cannon. One police officer was injured.

Shortly after midnight, the Zurich municipal police received a report of a container on fire. The call came shortly after the May Day celebration had ended at the barracks, RSI reports, according to albinfo.ch.

Other reports involved electric scooters, trash cans and other objects burning in the same area.

While extinguishing the fires and clearing traffic jams, police and firefighters were attacked several times by masked individuals, who reportedly belonged to the scene and were armed.
