Without pants, German police officers protest the lack of uniforms

An unusual protest has been held in Germany by the German Police Union (DPolG) regarding the lack of uniforms in the Bavarian police.
Two patrol police officers, a man and a woman, got out of the car without pants even though they were on duty. In the video published by the union, the police officers ask each other "How long have you been waiting for the uniform?" and one says 4 months and the other 6 months.
Union representatives say that since 2020, no one has talked about the lack of quality of uniforms, but about the lack of availability of uniforms. Currently, 21 uniform items such as trousers, jackets and hats can only be delivered with a waiting time of several months. Replacement clothing, initial equipment for new employees or when changing from the criminal police to the traffic police are not immediately available in a timely manner.
The union called on the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior to quickly provide a solution even if this would involve additional costs.
The Bavarian interior ministry blames the problem on disrupted supply chains due to the war in Ukraine, but police say the difficulties have existed since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
