Anti-government protests escalate in Serbia, clashes between students and police in Novi Sad

Incidents and clashes between students and police occurred in front of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Novi Sad, in northern Serbia.

The new riots erupted when several hundred protesters, including student protesters and citizens who supported them in these anti-government protests, broke through the riot police cordon protecting the building housing the dean of the faculty, which was being opposed by students.

There were stones, bottles, eggs, incense sticks and other objects thrown, as police responded by pushing the demonstrators back.
