French President expected to visit Great Britain, Macron receives invitation from King Charles ahead of Donald Trump's visit

King Charles has invited French President Emmanuel Macron for an official visit to the United Kingdom, to take place in May, four months before US President Donald Trump, who is expected to travel to London in September.
According to the Sunday Times, which has revealed details of the year's diplomatic calendar, Macron's visit is particularly significant, as it comes at a crucial period for Britain's relations with the European Union.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is trying to strengthen relations with the EU, at a time when the United States is gradually withdrawing from international commitments and focusing more on domestic policies.
Macron and Starmer have jointly led a "coalition of the willing" which aims to provide security guarantees for Ukraine, including an agreement between European states for strong support in the event that a ceasefire with Russia is reached.
Part of this commitment is a summit in London on May 19, where Britain and the European Union are expected to sign a new defense and security pact. The pact aims to increase military spending and strengthen security across Europe.
In September, US President Donald Trump is expected to visit Britain following an invitation he received from Prime Minister Starmer during his visit to Washington in February.
This visit will mark another important moment in Britain's international relations following its exit from the European Union.
