President of the Council of Europe, Antonio Costa, gives Donald Trump a Cristiano Ronaldo jersey: Let's play for peace

European Council President Antonio Costa presented US President Donald Trump with a Portugal national team jersey signed by Cristiano Ronaldo during the G7 summit in Canada.
Costa, who is Portuguese and has been leading the European Council since 2024, arrived in Kananaskis, Alberta, on Monday. During a meeting with Trump, he personally presented him with a No. 7 jersey, signed by the world soccer superstar.
The jersey read: “For President Donald J. Trump, playing for peace.” The American president happily accepted the gift, saying: “I like it, playing for peace.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, 40, is a five-time Ballon d'Or winner and the all-time leading scorer in international football with 138 goals. He most recently led Portugal to victory in the UEFA Nations League and is expected to represent Portugal again at the 2026 World Cup, to be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
