US sends world's largest aircraft carrier to Middle East, pressure on Iran increases

The world's largest aircraft carrier has been ordered to leave the Caribbean Sea for the Middle East, as US President Donald Trump considers taking military action against Iran.

The news was reported by American media, citing a source familiar with the plans.

It is about the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, whose movement was first made public by the New York Times.

With this shift, the number of US aircraft carriers in the region will increase to two, at a time when Washington is increasing pressure on Tehran to reach an agreement on its nuclear program.

Meanwhile, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in the Middle East more than two weeks ago, bolstering the US military presence in the region.
