Iran has fired ballistic missiles at US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain after the United States attacked two Iranian coastal radar stations.

There have been no reports of casualties so far. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), six of the seven missiles launched were intercepted, while the seventh did not reach its target.

According to the Iranian state news agency IRNA, the targets of the attack were the Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait and the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

However, CENTCOM denied claims that the Fifth Fleet headquarters had suffered damage, reports Skynews. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the attacks were a response to earlier US strikes.

On the other hand, the US military announced that it had attacked radar facilities on the islands of Goruk and Qeshm, as well as downed four Iranian drones that, according to it, posed an "immediate threat" to ships sailing in the Strait of Hormuz.

In its statement, the Revolutionary Guard claimed that four oil tankers were targeted after they were attempting to cross the strait without permission.

The IRGC warned the United States that any further "provocation" could lead to the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important maritime corridors for oil transport, where traffic has already been significantly reduced compared to the pre-war period.

Recall that the US and Iran are theoretically under a ceasefire, while efforts to extend it and reach a lasting peace agreement are still ongoing.
