"SKY ECC" destroys two criminal groups in Greece, 4 in handcuffs and 2

Several months after two consecutive operations in Greece that led to the crackdown on two international drug trafficking groups, discovered after communications on "SKY ECC", the Greek police have conducted a third operation.

Albanian users of the platform have emerged again, leading to the discovery of two other criminal groups that operated in 2020–2021.

4 people have been arrested and 2 others are wanted, as part of two criminal groups, which also included a senior Greek police officer.

By collecting, correlating and evaluating the content of the communications made through the online application "Sky ECC", in combination with other pre-investigation materials, it became possible for the authorities to identify some of the real owners of the specific PIN codes of the "Sky ECC" application, who are the remaining members of the criminal groups. Regarding the suspected individuals, from the communications (written and audio messages, photo exchange) through the online application "Sky ECC", strong indications emerged of their involvement, with important roles, in international networks for the supply and storage of large quantities of narcotics (marijuana and cocaine), with the ultimate aim of trafficking them into Greek territory, as well as the illegal purchases and sales of firearms (pistols and combat weapons).

During the operation that was carried out, as well as from the searches carried out in homes and vehicles, 41,365 euros, 6 mobile phones, a vehicle that was used as a means of drug trafficking, as well as a Police card with the police officer's data, which had been declared lost by him, were found and seized.

The Greek officer collaborated with the Albanian Mario Diamanti

The 56-year-old Greek officer appears to have retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel A in December 2024 and until then served in the West Athens Security Services and then in the Athens Police Directorate.

The retired officer came to prominence for his active participation in the international criminal drug trafficking network led by Albanian Marius Diamanti alias Mario Diamanti from Delvina, who was killed in November 2021 outside a gas station he owned, in Nikaia, Athens.

The police officer had also mediated for the illegal purchase and sale of Kalashnikovs by a person unknown to Mario Diamant. At the same time, the police officer's active participation in the international criminal drug trafficking network that also included an immigrant from Georgia was revealed, for whom he simultaneously "ensures" the illegal and apparent fulfillment of his restrictive conditions, while providing information and instructions to the Albanian and the immigrant from Georgia to avoid their arrest.

Marius Diamanti alias Mario Diamanti, was executed on November 16, 2021 outside his gas station in Nikaia, Athens. Diamanti had previously been arrested for a quantity of cocaine found in his car.

He was also accused of the murder of a 30-year-old Albanian man on February 14, 2010 on Fokionos Negri Street in Kypseli, but after much investigation he was found not guilty, although the weapon found at the scene was the same as the one found on Diamant during his arrest.

He is also mentioned as having been arrested for a criminal incident in Mykonos, but in this case too he was left with a mandatory appearance. Diamant's name was also mentioned in the large file of a group of forgers who had provided Albanian traffickers and murderers in Greece with false identities, from which Diamant had obtained the identity of Stergios Maznevidis. In May 2023, Diamant was accused posthumously of being the author of the murder of Belgian trafficker Kristof Waegeman on May 29, 2020 in Voula, Athens. He was shot twice in the head.

In 2015, Waegeman was sentenced to 12 years in prison in Belgium for trafficking cocaine from Latin America through the port of Antwerp. Waegeman was also one of the suspects in the “Mackerel” case, which investigated cocaine trafficking by the group of Abdelilah EM alias Black, who is based in Dubai. In this case, Waegeman is known as Geert Nelle.
