Tehran rejects new negotiations with US after Iranian ship incident

Despite US President Trump telling the New York Post that the American delegation is on its way to Pakistan, Iran has not changed its decision to abstain from the talks, according to the Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to the Tasnim report, the US naval blockade remains an obstacle, but, beyond that, US messages to Iran contain further excessive demands that cloud the prospects for future talks.

"Iran remains fully prepared for military confrontation and to punish the US again," it said.

According to Iranian officials, Washington's recent actions demonstrate a lack of seriousness in diplomacy and make it impossible to continue negotiations under the current conditions. One of the main obstacles remains the US-imposed naval blockade, which Tehran considers as economic and political pressure.

On the other hand, the US had planned a new round of talks in Pakistan, but Iran's participation remains uncertain. Although some Iranian officials have left open the possibility of reconsideration, the official position at the moment is dismissive, stressing that the American conditions are "excessive and unrealistic."

The situation has raised international concerns, as the clash is jeopardizing a fragile ceasefire and is also affecting global energy markets, particularly because of the strategic role of the Strait of Hormuz in oil transportation.
