A touching new photo circulating online shows the family of five smiling while on the plane just minutes before the crash.
The photo – which was published by the BBC – shows Prateek Joshi, a radiologist at the Royal Derby Hospital, with his wife, Dr. Komi Vyas, and their three children. The Times of India newspaper identified the children as little Miraya and twin brothers Pradyut and Nakul.
Neil Ryan, a 42-year-old former neighbour of the family, told the BBC that the family of five were "the best family and their deaths were absolutely devastating".
"They were truly humble and good people. It's heartbreaking," he concluded.
Two 20-year-old sisters from London were also among the 241 dead in the devastating Air India crash, who returned to the UK after surprising their grandmother for her birthday, according to their cousin.
She says his family is not ready to accept that they are gone and that their grandmother is in shock.
"At this moment, no one can accept it. They had only come here for our grandmother's birthday. I can't hold back the tears."
A father of two young daughters from London, who travelled to India to fulfil his wife's last wish, was also among those who lost their lives in the Air India plane crash, according to the Daily Mail.
Arjun Patoliya, a father of two, was returning to the UK on an Air India flight after visiting a village in Gujarat to scatter his late wife's ashes in a local river, honouring her final wish.
His wife had died just seven days earlier in London and her final wish was for her ashes to be taken to her homeland in India.
The couple had two children, aged four and eight, who remained at home in the UK and are now mourning the deaths of both their parents within a week.
Air India confirmed on Thursday that 241 passengers on board the flight died when the plane — flying from Ahmedabad, India, to London — crashed five minutes after takeoff.
