Trump and Netanyahu meet on Gaza: 60-day ceasefire deal sought

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will meet again with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tonight in an attempt to advance a deal on Gaza. This will be the second meeting between them in less than 24 hours, following a dinner held at the White House.

"He'll come later. We'll talk, I would say, almost exclusively about Gaza. We have to resolve this issue," Trump told reporters.

The US president said that both are committed to finding a solution and stressed that the other side, referring to Hamas, is also interested in reaching an agreement.

Meanwhile, Trump's special envoy, Jason Witkoff, said that work is underway on a deal that is expected to be finalized by the end of this week. It provides for a 60-day ceasefire, during which 10 live hostages and 9 bodies of victims will be released.

Netanyahu is on an official visit to Washington until Thursday, his third visit to the US capital since Trump returned to power in January 2025. The meetings are expected to be crucial for the progress of negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
