Trump ally Charlie Kirk dies in hospital after being shot during campaign rally

Conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, has died at the age of 31, following a shooting that occurred during a visit to the campus of Utah Valley University.
According to official sources, Kirk was shot in the neck during his “Prove Me Wrong” tour on Wednesday at around 12:10 p.m. Local and campus police confirmed that a suspect was immediately arrested, with dramatic footage quickly circulating on social media. It shows the suspected participant lying on the ground—being chased and detained by authorities.
"He was struck and removed from the scene by his security. Campus police are investigating a serious incident; a suspect is in custody," police announced in a post on X.
Turning Point USA had previously released a statement to CNN confirming that Kirk had been shot and was hospitalized in critical condition. “We are praying for him at this time,” said Aubrey Laitsch, a spokeswoman for the organization.
But the tragedy deepened when medical workers confirmed Charlie Kirk's death, leaving the conservative community and beyond in shock.
Through a post on social media, it was President Trump himself who confirmed Kirk's death, writing: "The Great, even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, has passed away. No one understood or had the heart of the youth of the United States better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by EVERYONE, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and I send our condolences to his wonderful wife, Erika, and the entire family. Charlie, we love you!"
