Ukraine strikes pipeline carrying Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia

Ukraine today struck the Druzba oil pipeline in the Tambov region, in central Russia, according to a source close to the Ukrainian military security service (GUR).
This is the fifth Ukrainian attack on the pipeline that supplies Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia, Reuters reported.
Hungary and Slovakia continue to import energy products from Russia, even after the rest of the EU countries were cut off from Russian energy following the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Ukrainian media reported that remote-controlled explosives were used in the attack. The Slovak pipeline management company and the Hungarian oil and gas company announced later in the day that supplies through the Druzba were continuing normally.
There was no comment from the Russian side. Ukraine has struck the pipeline once in March, twice in August and once in September of this year.
Kiev says the attacks on energy targets are a response to ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine and are aimed at weakening Moscow's overall military effort.
