Von der Leyen refuses to participate in the Peace Board, here are Brussels' demands

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will not attend the inaugural meeting of the Peace Board, scheduled for February 19 in Washington. Through its spokesperson, Anouar El Anouni, the European Commission announced that Brussels still has questions about the statute of the “Peace Board”, in particular regarding its scope, governance and compatibility with the UN Charter.
However, the EU remains ready to cooperate with the United States of America on the implementation of a peace plan in Gaza.
Meanwhile, according to the New York Times, a multi-billion dollar plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip is expected to be presented at the informal meeting in Washington. The US and the United Arab Emirates are said to be ready to invest $1 billion each in this project.
Also, some of the 20 participating countries are expected to provide thousands of troops to create a security force that will be deployed in the territory, marking a new step in international efforts to stabilize the region.
