A US FBI operation foiled an ISIS-linked terror cell after they made threats against Real Madrid players and fans.

The effort, which also involved Spain's Civil Guard Intelligence Service and Europol, successfully infiltrated the I'lam Foundation's propaganda organization. As reported by El Confidencial, 9 individuals were arrested in Girona, Cadiz, Almeria and Tenerife in connection with the threats.

Journalist Jose Maria Olmo tweeted to reveal that the investigation had dismantled a terrorist network that "ordered its followers to attack the bus of Real Madrid players and the team's fans".

The cell reportedly posted a series of threatening messages, one of which depicted the silhouette of a hooded figure with a rifle, positioned within view of Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium, targeting the team bus.

El Confidencial has reported that a poster bearing the message "Kill them all" was distributed ahead of the Champions League quarter-finals in April. The threats appeared to be aimed at Real Madrid as they prepared to face Manchester City in the Spanish capital.
