Fires in Turkey/ Over 50,000 citizens evacuated from Izmir, Manisa and Hatay

More than 50,000 citizens have been evacuated from their homes due to powerful fires that have engulfed the provinces of Izmir, Manisa and Hatay, the Turkish Disaster Management Agency (AFAD) announced on Monday.
According to a statement published on the social network X, the relocation has been carried out in 41 different areas, where the situation has been assessed as particularly dangerous to life and property. Citizens have been temporarily sheltered in safe environments, while authorities are closely monitoring developments.
In Izmir, the flames continued to spread for the second day in a row, causing significant damage to forests and residential areas. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry reported that strong winds were hampering efforts to extinguish the fire and helping it spread to new areas.
Emergency teams, including firefighters, the military and volunteers, are engaged on the ground in a non-stop battle to control the situation and protect the lives of citizens and natural resources.
Meanwhile, Turkish authorities have urged residents to follow evacuation instructions and avoid danger zones, while investigations into the causes of the fires are ongoing. In recent years, Turkey has increasingly faced large fires, fueled by high temperatures and prolonged drought.
