Warning of increased airfares to Europe, inevitable due to war with Iran

Airfares in Europe are set to rise sharply due to the Middle East crisis and fuel supply problems, the head of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Willie Walsh, has warned, saying the cost increases are "inevitable".
According to him, airlines cannot afford high jet fuel prices for a long time, caused by tensions and blockages in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's main oil supply routes.
Although some companies have temporarily reduced prices to encourage travel, Walsh stressed that this situation will not last and the additional costs will be reflected on passengers.
" Over time it is inevitable that high oil prices will lead to more expensive tickets ," he told the BBC.
The UK and European countries remain heavily dependent on fuel imports from the Persian Gulf, and there are fears that there could be supply shortages during the summer, especially during peak travel periods.
On the other hand, British and European authorities have assured that there is currently no shortage of fuel for aircraft and work is being done to find alternative supplies.
According to Walsh, even if the situation in the Strait of Hormuz normalizes quickly, the impact on the aviation market could continue for months, even into next year.
