Report/ Albania, among the countries with the lowest scores in the PISA 2022

Albania has been ranked 14th from the bottom in the international education assessment PISA 2022, according to a report published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)  and summarized by the World Population Review.

Our country has achieved an average score of 368 points, significantly below the global average of around 438 points.

What is PISA and why does it matter?

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a global test conducted every three years by the OECD to measure the skills of 15-year-old students in mathematics, science and reading. Around 600,000 students from 85 countries, representing over 90% of the world economy, participated in PISA 2022.

The test lasts about two hours and aims to measure not memorized knowledge, but the skills of critical thinking, problem solving and the application of knowledge to real-world situations. A high ranking in PISA is often associated with more efficient education systems and greater economic success, so the assessment is considered an important indicator of the quality of education in any country.

Albania, still far from the OECD average

Albania's results show that Albanian students continue to struggle in reading, math and science. With 368 points, Albania remains far below regional countries such as Croatia or Slovenia, which are close to the OECD average.
