Actor and activist Florjan Binaj has announced his candidacy as an independent, arguing that the capital needs a leader who does not represent a political party.

In his statement to Euronews Albania about his candidacy, he stated that Tirana must be returned to its citizens and that the party leadership of the municipality has not brought the expected improvement in the quality of life.

Binaj's candidacy has been supported by several opposition forces, while he has continued to present the race as a civic alternative and beyond traditional party divisions.
