The President of the Democratic Party, Dr. Sali Berisha, will travel to the USA. This is a victory for him. After all, for 5 years he was detained and for this he was politically attacked every day, by the government and the media close to it, for the "impossibility of crossing the ocean". Today Berisha received the visa to cross the ocean and I personally am happy for the former president and former prime minister of my country.
But that's all!
To the question, "Is this enough for Berisha to triumphantly return as a governing alternative in Albania?" - I answer unequivocally:
No !
Very briefly: The situation Albania finds itself in does not simply require a political rotation. A “radical upheaval” is needed.
- The state must be freed from the political control of the party in power.
- The economy must be freed from criminal money and oligarchic monopolies.
- A sustainable economy must be designed, one that does not rely on the barbaric consumption of natural assets, leaving behind a land without forests on the surface and without water below the surface.
-We need a government that, in a country that is among the richest in water on the continent, delivers water to people's homes, and not lies in every campaign.
-Legal mechanisms that legitimize horrific corruption practices and the plunder of national assets must be dismantled.
-The legitimacy of the Parliament must be restored/established, from an institution serving the executive, to an institution with integrity, a legislator and monitor of the executive.
- We need a government that thinks about what will happen in this country, not just after 4 years, but also after 40 years.
- We need a government that builds institutions to serve citizens, and not advertises the phone numbers of ministers and MPs, so that citizens can ask them to solve their problems.
- A state must be built where the 18-year-old waiter is not butchered by the hotel owners because he asked for a month's salary, as he would leave his unaffordable job. A state must be built where the waiter has an employment contract, where the salary, working hours, days off are determined and social and health insurance are paid, and not used as a slave and beaten if he rebels.
Sali Berisha doesn't do this!
Because many of the mechanisms that today produce corruption and degradation of the state were installed during his time and perfected during this time.
Because Mr. Berisha had the opportunity to do everything good, but he didn't know, couldn't or didn't want to. That's another thing. He wasted his time.
Good luck, Mr. Berisha. But that's all!
