History cannot repeat itself!

In 1990, Ramiz Alia met a group of students carefully selected and filtered by the dictatorial regime and built the narrative of a peaceful transition of power. A process that turned into a political compromise, the consequences of which Albania has been suffering for decades, 36 years now.
This was one of the great lies of the Albanian transition!
In fact, the philosophy and structures of the 46-year-old communist government were not separated from the political and economic life of the country.
The denial of the right to property and the failure to return property to its legal owners is one of the greatest injustices that the 36-year-old corrupt political caste has committed.
The denial of legitimate owners, their return to former owners, is also one of the proofs that the separation from the communist system was not made either in the economic plan, or in that of social justice, of granting the fundamental freedom of the individual, property to the owner.
And for this, the political responsibility lies with the DP, since it came to power as a party of freedom and change, as a right-wing party of individual freedom.
Political pluralism, the creation of several parties, the opening of borders and several other freedoms were enough to create the image of a country that was changing and moving towards democracy.
But, in reality, economic power and political influence remained in the hands of the former communist nomenclature.
Former ministers of the Enver Hoxha regime, in the ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Education and Economy, as well as former ambassadors and other high-ranking representatives of the nomenclature, dominated the political and institutional life of Albania for 36 years.
That is why today the citizens are in the square, and today's student civic protest has only one essential thing in common with that of 1990: citizens and students have risen up against a government that does not represent the freedom and interests of citizens.
In 1990, students rose up against the communist dictatorship. Today, citizens and students have risen up against the continuation of a system captured by a corrupt political caste, which no longer respects but only protects its own privileges and interests at the expense of citizens.
Therefore, there is no longer room for bargaining, for controlled meetings or for compromises that produce facades and prolong the life of the corrupt political caste.
Citizens and students have been in the square for six months. They no longer seek agreements between political elites but real change.
And this time change can no longer be negotiated on behalf of citizens, but it will come from them.
