Priorities for US-Albania relations/ US Embassy introduces new ambassador, Eric Wendt

The United States Embassy in Tirana has introduced the new American Ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt, through a video message published on social networks.
In its post, the embassy invites citizens to get to know the ambassador and listen to his messages regarding priorities for strengthening relations between the two countries.

I am Eric Wendt, the new Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Albania. As I begin my work as the U.S. Ambassador to Albania, I would like to express my gratitude to President Trump and Secretary Rubio for their trust.
And I would also like to thank the people of Albania for your warm welcome to the United States of America. During my previous military service with the Albanian Special Forces, and in my previous travels throughout Albania, meeting with ordinary Albanians, I have personally experienced that Albanians are an extraordinarily welcoming people who are also hardworking and proud. Over the coming months, under my leadership as Ambassador, the United States Embassy will conduct an assessment that will help shape our path forward. As part of this assessment, I look forward to traveling to various locations in Albania.
As is standard diplomatic practice, I will participate in numerous meetings with the various political leaders you have elected, as well as with your government officials, military leaders, business leaders, legal leaders, and others. I also look forward to meeting with ordinary Americans and Albanians. Together we will discuss both old ways and new creative ways of how we can work together effectively in the future, focusing on three key areas of mutual benefit to the United States and Albania.
The first is the increase in our power.
We grow stronger as we build true defensive capabilities and do our fair share as allies.
The second is increased prosperity.
We will find ways to increase trade, investment, and opportunities for mutual benefit for Americans and Albanians.
The third is to increase security. We will work together against international crime and to protect our common interests.
As we conduct this assessment over the coming months and develop this stronger, more prosperous, and more secure path forward, I also look forward to learning more about the people of Albania.
More about your proud history and to experience your legendary hospitality again in person. I am truly honored and blessed to serve in Albania as the United States Ambassador. The United States and Albania share a strong history of friendship and deep mutual respect.
Together we can do real things. Let's go together!
