The sensational prostitution case in Paris/Who is the Albanian 'tutor'

A 37-year-old Albanian woman, identified as Mariela M., suspected of being one of the main figures in an organized prostitution ring in Paris, has requested release from prison.

According to the French newspaper "Le Parisien", Mariela has been in custody since February 2026, after being charged with aggravated solicitation of prostitution, human trafficking and money laundering within the framework of a structured criminal group.

Investigations suspect that the network operated in the Porte de Vincennes area, along Boulevard Carnot, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, during the period 2023-2026.

According to the investigative file, the 37-year-old is suspected of having the role of one of the field leaders, organizing the activities of several women who practiced prostitution and collecting a portion of their income.

The profits amounted to 128 thousand euros.

French investigators have discovered that the money gained from the activity was allegedly collected in France and then transferred abroad, including to Belgium and Albania.

According to investigators' calculations, based on bank transfers and money remittances, the profits related to the activity amounted to around 128 thousand euros.

The investigations also mention several Albanian citizens, among them the Z. brothers, who are suspected of leading the network from Albania. One of them, according to the reporting judge, is suspected of continuing to give orders even from prison.

Arrested at a hotel in Paris

Mariela M. was arrested on February 17, 2026, along with two other women, at a hotel in Pantin. During the searches, authorities seized 9,000 euros in cash.

Before investigators, the 37-year-old admitted that she practices prostitution and has a relationship with a person involved in this activity, but denied that she ran the network, collected money from other women, or made financial transfers.

Her lawyer requested her release under judicial control, but the prosecution requested continued detention, arguing that there is a risk that she will return to suspected criminal activity.

According to "Le Parisien", this is the third investigation into Albanian prostitution rings in the Porte de Vincennes area since 2019. In a previous case, in 2023, a leader of such a ring was sentenced to six years in prison.
