Albania does not need another agreement between new or old elites, which is being attempted recently, to emerge from the deep crisis in which the country is immersed.
It needs a radical transformation that touches the roots of the system and not another spectacle like in 1990 that produces noise but 'preserves' the mechanism of power intact.
What has begun on the streets of Albania cannot end with another 'market' cooked up in the historic kitchens of the corrupt Albanian political establishment.
This must be a final confrontation and must go all the way, until the complete dismantling of the structures that have captured the state and deformed democracy.
Because, corruption, like communism, is not just a problem of a few individuals, but it has transformed into a capillary system that not only reproduces itself, but it is hindering any effort for change.
Therefore, the removal of some figures or a superficial reorganization with supposedly new figures is not only not enough, but a surgical intervention is needed to completely change the mechanisms that keep this system afloat.
Thus, any new agreement that essentially aims to quell the revolt but without addressing its true causes is not only not a solution, but is a betrayal of the aspirations of the citizens.
It is another stab in the back to their belief that Albania can become a country where dignity and freedom are not privileges, but inalienable rights.
Albania does not need another rotation of elites. Albania needs a final liberation from the clique that has held them hostage for decades.
