Homage/ Erkin Lika – The man who loved nature until his last breath!

"There are people who live for many years without leaving a trace, and there are people who live a short time, but become a trace themselves that is never erased."

There are departures that leave you speechless. There are news that cannot be accepted by the heart, no matter how much the mind tries to understand it. The separation from life of Erkin Lika is one of those pains that affects not only his family and friends, but also every person who believes that kindness, passion and love for life are the most beautiful values that a human being can have.

Only 37 years old. In the prime of youth. At an age when dreams never end, but are just beginning to take shape. At an age when one still has mountains to climb, paths to discover, and horizons to see. But fate, in its inexplicable way, decided to cut his journey short.

Erkin was not just a certified speleologist, a cave explorer, a nature photographer or a member of the Mountain Search and Rescue community of the Republic of Albania. He was a man who lived with passion. A soul who saw nature as the most beautiful temple of creation and every expedition as a way to better know the world and oneself.

He did not seek fame. He did not seek glory. He sought only beauty. He sought the light that penetrates a cave, the silence of the mountains, the sound of water and the innocence of nature. It was precisely where he felt freest, where his heart beat the strongest, that he closed his eyes forever.

The Roman philosopher Seneca wrote: “It is not how long one lives, but how well one lives.” And Erkin Lika lived his life with meaning. He filled it with experience, knowledge, dedication and love for others. He was among those people who do not think only about themselves, but contribute to the community, help in search and rescue operations and risk their lives to save lives.

It is often said that God takes the best people to Himself. No one can know the mystery of divine plans, but when people like Erkini leave, the human heart cannot help but ask: why so early? Perhaps because pure souls are not measured by the years they live, but by the light they leave behind. They are not forgotten, because they continue to live in the memories, deeds and love they have sown.

Marcus Aurelius wrote that “What never dies is virtue.” The human body is temporary, but character, kindness and example remain. This is precisely the legacy that Erkin Lika leaves behind. A name that will be remembered with respect by the speleological community, by friends of the mountain, by colleagues, by those who were lucky enough to know him and learn from him.

Nature, which he loved so much, today seems to be in mourning. The mountains he climbed, the caves he explored, the rivers he followed, and the paths he walked will forever carry the memory of his footsteps. The photographs he took are no longer just images; they are fragments of his soul, the way he chose to see the world.

Death reminds us that life is fragile. That no one knows how long his journey is. But it also reminds us of something else: a person is not measured by the number of years, but by the traces he leaves in the hearts of others. And in this regard, Erkin lived much longer than 37 years.

Today, tears are inevitable. The pain is great. Words are small in the face of loss. But along with the sadness remains the gratitude that this country had a son like Erkin Lika – wise, humble, courageous and madly in love with nature.

Let this separation be not only a moment of pain, but also a reminder to live with passion, to help each other, and to love life as he loved it.

Rest in peace, Erkin Lika.

May the earth be light for you.

The mountains will miss their climber.

The caves will miss the explorer.

Photography will miss your eye.

Friends will miss your smile.

The family will miss her heart.

But your name will never be lost. It will live on in every path you have traveled, in every person you have inspired, and in every beautiful memory you have left behind.

“Good people never completely disappear. They become a light in our memories, inspiration in our works, and prayer in our hearts. God calls pure souls to Himself, but the love they left on earth remains immortal.”

Rest in God's peace, Erkin Lika!

May your memory be eternal!
