State Matura 2025 results, fictitiousness and not improvement

The results of the State Matura exam in the subjects Foreign Language and Albanian Language shed light on a deep and inherent problem: the quality of teaching and the testing method do not match the educational reality of the students.
It is shocking to see that the average grade in a foreign language (7) is higher than that in Albanian (6.87) – when in fact, the mother tongue is the foundation of critical thinking, expression, and civic formation.
How is it possible for a high school graduate to do better in a foreign language than in his own language?
This is an alarming indicator, not success. It does not speak of a higher level in a foreign language, but of fictitious results since the test was easy and superficial (declared by the high school graduates themselves).
Thus, with this type of test, the Ministry of Education "compensates" for the lack of conditions in foreign language laboratories, the lack of didactic tools and critical thinking methods, and "shuts up" the high school graduates' complaints.
The foreign language result as better than three years ago is an illusion – a false improvement, which does not represent the real abilities of the students, but rather proves that their knowledge matches a test of a below-average level.
On the other hand, the Albanian language continues to be taught in a reproducible manner, based on memorization, not on understanding and critical thinking.
Teaching in both subjects is far from standard, and in both cases failure is masked: in foreign languages, higher grades than last year are considered success, while in Albanian, the responsibility for poor achievements remains with the student himself.
We have become hostage to the fictitiousness in student assessment, which must be stopped as soon as possible. The necessity for education that gives students thinking, language, habits and competencies and normal and regular state exams is a national emergency, because without education, a developed future is at risk.
