Lulzim Basha's Second Golden Chance, January 21, the story that owes history

A test of character between the past and the truth
Rarely in politics does history knock on the door twice.
Lulzim Basha is knocking for the second time, and perhaps this is the last chance that can save him from political defeat.
First mistake: War with "peaceful weapons"
Basha was given a golden opportunity with the declaration of Sali Berisha as persona non grata. It was the moment when he could have finally broken away from the past and built a new, modern and credible Democratic Party. But he couldn't do it and today the DP is back in Berisha's clutches.
The reasons are many…some think he didn't want to start a civil war within the Democrats; others that he didn't dare to face Berisha; others that he was playing a double game.
The truth, as always in politics, is not black and white.
Lulzim Basha did not want to drag the Democrats into a destructive, fratricidal clash.
He sought to win calmly, with arguments, often relying on the conscience of his former collaborators... who were one by one broken by the temptation or fear of Berisha's despotic power.
But in politics, whoever starts a war must not only have the determination and self-sacrifice to see it through to the end, but must also enter with the conviction that there is only one option: to win!
You cannot confront the monster with "peaceful weapons," nor with arguments, nor with programs, nor with positivist campaigns as he unleashes the most poisonous bile of slander against you.
He tried to fight with legal procedures, with diplomacy in Washington, while the battle was taking place on the terrain of Albanian political brutality.
This was his biggest mistake.
But sometimes history gives you a second chance.
Today, with his summons to SPAK as a person with knowledge of the events of January 21, Lulzim Basha faces a test of character, a unique second chance.
It is not just a legal procedure but a moral test.
From now on, whenever he is summoned to SPAK, Basha must remember that his only loyalty must be to the Truth, not to Sali Berisha.
He has a clear moral duty: to serve democrats and the truth, not the political greed that has held him hostage for decades.
Not with hatred, not with revenge for Berisha, but with courage and dignity to face the truth in the face of his slander and intrigues.
The public must know the full truth of January 21.
It must know Basha's conflict with Berisha during the protest, his demonstrative departure from the Prime Minister's Office to the Ministry of Interior, and the clear order he gave to the police:
"No armed officers. No armed retaliation. No protesters to be harmed."
These are not technical instructions, but cornerstones of moral responsibility.
Publishing these facts would be an act of reward to us, his collaborators, who God knows how much we have sacrificed spiritual peace, a service to truth and justice that Albania has not yet seen.
Today Basha has the power not to take revenge, but to free the conscience of the democrats from fear and silence.
Because in the end, history will no longer judge him for tactical mistakes, but for a lack of moral courage.
From today, he has the chance to show those who consider him "in play" with Berisha, "scared of Berisha" that the truth is completely different.
But there is also an obligation towards the few people who stood by him and we stood by him even after May 11, alongside… the people most flogged by the soldiers of Rama-Berisha and Meta.
As Adam Smith said:
" Mercy to the wicked is cruelty to the victim. "
