The US battle against Iran is their exclusive issue. There are still nostalgic analysts who cannot detach themselves from the reality of the Cold War, which was in fact a form of establishment between the two superpowers, the US and the Soviet Union, who had in principle agreed on a bipolar order and had divided the spheres of influence at the Yalta Conference.
World War II and the defeat of Germany, the US's exit from isolationist policy had created a new international reality based mainly on ideology, in the Western Bloc and the Eastern Bloc!
Beyond any space that both the United States and the Soviet Union sought to find in places like the Middle East or in some "free" corner of the world to create new influences, the spaces of the two blocs were clear and neither side had any interest in confrontation.
The collapse of the Soviet Union as a political, economic and consequently military failure created the conditions for the end of the Cold War and the birth of a new, unipolar international reality, with the United States as the sole military superpower and several new regional powers.
So, we had the US first in terms of power, a few empty places in the ranking, and then came the other European powers, Russia, Turkey, Russia, China, India, Brazil, Pakistan, and so on! The unipolar situation was clearly transitory and would not last forever, but it was favorable for the US, which did its best to have advantages until a new bipolar or multipolar reality was created.
Of course, as expected, with or without Putin, Russia would do everything to rise again and return to its rightful historical role as an international factor! This could not happen immediately, but it would take years, at least 30 years, and that's what happened!
Also, this would be enough time for the Chinese Dragon to reawaken, India to strengthen, and along with them Turkey and several regional powers.
The more these powers rise, the more their appetite for additional interests in their foreign policy would increase! Part of these regional powers would certainly be Iran, even though it has a fragile internal social and political reality!
Some analysts claim, not breaking away from the past, that Russia would have a similarly active role in the Iran issue as the Soviet Union had previously done or attempted in the Middle East.
This logic of these analysts would hold if reality had not changed. In fact, everything today has changed and has little to do with the Cold War situation. The only thing that has not changed is the fact that the US insists on remaining steadfast in its dominant interests as a world superpower.
Nor has Russia's appetite to return to a dominant superpower similar to the Soviet Union's time changed.
Russia has no interest in directly clashing with the US over a country like Iran. In fact, the new relationship between Putin and Trump, taking into account the complicated situation in Ukraine, seems to be a new tacit agreement to divide zones of influence as they once did during the Cold War.
So, if Iran or analysts hope that Putin will do something, it means that they do not understand anything about the reality where we are! On the contrary, I think that this Trump mandate could conclude with a temporary "peace" with Russia that could be concluded with a conference similar to the one in Yalta once!
Iran, by attacking US military bases, is doing nothing but hastening its own end as the loser in this unnecessary war!
Of course, this war will not end with the invasion of Iran in the classic sense of war, because the US has no interest in such a thing, but with the overthrow of this regime that will pave the way for internal anarchy with the pseudo goal of democratization, guaranteeing a weak state and political instability.
This new situation will favor the formation of Israel as the only power in the Middle East! Iran will need at least another 30 years to rise again and be considered a potential rival to Israel! The fall of the Regime could create a new climate for Iran's foreign policy in the version of an ally or friend of Israel!
With the fall of the regime, there is a possibility of a transformation from an enemy country, Iran becoming a friend of Israel.
