More sex means more happiness? Here's what the studies say

Is it true that couples who have more sex are happier? This question has intrigued psychologists and sociologists for decades, while scientific research offers a complex, not always straightforward, picture.

✅ What the studies say?
Blanchflower & Oswald (2004): In a study of 16,000 adults, they found that people who had more sex reported higher life satisfaction. Going from once a month to once a week significantly improved well-being.

Muise et al. (2016): Analyzed data from 25,000 people and found that once a week is an optimal frequency for increasing happiness, but increases beyond that do not bring significant benefits.

2015 experiment: Couples were asked to double the frequency of sex. The result? No improvement in happiness, and even a decrease in desire and satisfaction.

2017 study: People who had less, but more satisfying, sex were happier than those with higher frequency but lower satisfaction.

???? The bottom line?
According to Dr. Wahl, there is no magic formula. For some couples, increasing frequency can bring more intimacy and happiness, but only if it is desired by both partners. Conversely, pressure to have more sex can negatively affect the relationship and personal well-being.

So, quality over quantity is what matters most. For some, once a week is ideal. For others, even less often may be enough, as long as there is emotional connection and mutual pleasure.

???? Message for couples?
Don't obsess over statistics. Talk openly with your partner and focus on each other's real desires, feelings, and needs. Sexual happiness is not measured by numbers, but by honest feelings.
