Pepper X is officially declared the hottest pepper in the world

Pepper X has officially been declared the world's hot pepper.
Guinness World Records announced that it had replaced the Carolina Reaper strain. Both varieties were created by the same person, Ed Currie, according to Sky News.
Pepper X has been a decades-long obsession that took its creator 10 years to achieve.
It's a cross between a Carolina Reaper and what Currie mysteriously classifies as a "pepper that a friend of mine sent me from Michigan that was very hot."
"I could feel the burn for three and a half hours," said Mr Currie, one of only five people to have ever eaten an entire Pepper X.
“Those cramps are terrible. I lay for about an hour in the rain, moaning in pain.”
Pepper X has a green and yellow color with an earthy aroma.
The substance in peppers called capsaicin is what causes the burning sensation when eaten.
The heat in peppers is measured in Scoville heat units, a scale based on the concentration of capsaicin.
Zero is mild and a regular jalapeno pepper registers around 5000 units. A habanero, the record holder some 25 years ago, usually exceeds 100,000, and the Guinness Book of World Records lists the Carolina Reaper at 1.64 million units.
Pepper X's record is averaging 2.69 million units.
