Writers' Forum Established: Common Book Market and Influence on Cultural

17 Albanian writers have founded a Forum, which brings together contributions from Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro, as well as authors who live and create in exile. Through this organization, the Forum aims to create a space for dialogue, cooperation and networking, where ideas on art, creativity and literary criticism meet to build real cultural, inter-Albanian and international contacts. In his capacity as president of the Forum, he notes that they seek to influence decision-making.

"In this spirit, Forum 26 aims to exert a constructive influence on institutions and decision-makers in the field of culture, for the construction of coherent, comprehensive and sensitive cultural policies towards the integrity and unity of Albanian literature. The priority remains the promotion of Albanian literature as an indivisible whole, as a common cultural and artistic space," said Çapaliku. He added that a common Albania-Kosovo book market and attention to the book are required, while mentioning the current devaluation in several areas.

With the book facing financial, customs, tax and legal constraints and lack of policies or subsidies dedicated to books and literature, it seems that the forum seeks to unite voices. According to the founders, the Forum came about as a need for a new, comprehensive and contemporary organization of Albanian writers. Visar Zhiti has been elected Honorary President of the Forum.
