Tough Gullit: I've decided not to watch football anymore, it's become

Dutch football icon Ruud Gullit has issued a scathing critique of the direction he believes modern football is taking. The former Ballon d'Or winner has announced that he has decided to stop following the sport he once loved.

"I don't like football anymore. I've decided to stop watching it. I saw Arsenal-Chelsea, what a terrible match!", he said.

The former Milan star further explained the reasons for his disappointment: "I see players trying to win corners, asking for throw-ins. I see ball boys ready to give towels to players. Football has become terrible. I hope this is not the path we are following."

According to Gullit, the game has lost its spontaneity and individual courage. He calls for a more lively football, with more dribbling and fewer schemes built around set pieces.

"I'm waiting for players who can face defenders, someone like Lamine Yamal. I miss the joy! I don't enjoy watching football anymore. Everyone just does their job on the field. Where are the players who dribble? Where are the ones with personality? Why is everyone just passing? Passing, passing and more passing!", he concluded.
