Kosovo/ EU dialogue envoy visits the north: Free movement of people and goods,

From northern Kosovo, the EU Special Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen, called for moving forward. The European diplomat visited border crossings in the north on Tuesday, saying that the free movement of people and goods is a key point for integration towards the European path.

"It is impressive to see and learn about the Common Crossing Points. While much has been done, we must resume the remaining work without delay. It is about allowing people and goods to move freely - a cornerstone of EU integration . Thanks to KFOR for the logistical support ," he wrote on the "X" platform.

During the visit, Sorensen was accompanied by KFOR Commander Enrico Barduani.

On Monday, Sorensen met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani, where the latter urged him to lift sanctions against Kosovo. This is his first visit since taking office on February 1. During this time, he said he is studying the possibility of new methods for dialogue.

Sanctions against Kosovo were imposed in 2023 following measures taken by Kurti's government that were not consulted with the West and that, according to the EU, led to tensions in the north. Their lifting is being discussed in EU parliamentary committees but has not yet been approved.
