Kosovo, extraordinary session to form Government to be held tomorrow

The Kosovo Assembly has announced that an extraordinary session will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM to elect the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

Meanwhile, at 11:00, another session will be held to form parliamentary committees, where the budget, international agreements, and RTK financing will be discussed.

The mandated person to form the government is Glauk Konjufca from the Vetëvendosje Movement, who was mandated by President Vjosa Osmani on November 4.

Konjufca has stated that he is seeking the support of MPs for his government, in order to avoid parliamentary elections in December and for the country to have an executive "at least" until April, when the country's new president should be elected.

However, with the former opposition united around the idea of new elections, the chances seem minimal that the Vetëvendosje Movement will manage to form the executive on the second attempt.

On October 26, Albin Kurti failed to secure the necessary votes to form a government.

The LVV won the February 9 elections, but did not secure enough seats in the Assembly that would allow it to form a Government without cooperation with other parties.

If a majority is not reached to form a Government tomorrow, the process will automatically lead to extraordinary elections.
