Jakup Krasniqi's defense: The final trial will confirm his innocence

Jakup Krasniqi's lawyer, Venkatesëari Alagendra, has expressed her confidence that the former KLA spokesman will be acquitted in the trial in The Hague.
Jakup Krasniqi is being tried for alleged war crimes, along with other former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
Krasniqi's defense, in a statement to the media on Friday, said that Krasniqi's long road to justice has been fraught with many challenges.
“The road to justice for Mr. Jakup Krasniqi has been long and fraught with challenges. It must be acknowledged that almost four and a half years have passed since my client’s arrest, including a preliminary phase and two full years since the start of the trial. Throughout this period, the legal defense has remained steadfast in its commitment to truth and justice,” she said.
“Since the beginning of the trial, our legal strategy has been based on facts, law and integrity. Throughout the course of the prosecution’s case, we have consistently defended and substantiated the positions set out in our opening statement. These positions remain unwavering. As the prosecution’s case approaches its formal conclusion in the coming days, we will proceed with the next procedural steps, as set out in the Rules. We are committed to completing these steps without delay, so that the final judgment can be delivered as soon as possible,” she added.
Krasniqi's defense said they remain steadfast in "our belief that justice will prevail—and that the final verdict will confirm Mr. Krasniqi's innocence."
Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi have been held in the detention center in The Hague since 2020.
They are accused of alleged war crimes, charges to which each of them has pleaded not guilty. Krasniqi's defense, in a statement to the media on Friday, said that Krasniqi's long road to justice has been fraught with challenges.
