NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has reiterated that the perpetrators of the attack in Banjska and the one against KFOR members in the north in 2023 must be held accountable and that Serbia must work towards this.
Rutte said that efforts must be made to ensure that the situation in Kosovo remains stable.
"We are closely following the security situation in Kosovo and we must ensure that the situation since 1999, which is much more stable now, continues. Regarding Banjska and the attack on KFOR troops, the Serbs must work for accountability. We discussed this with Vučić on the phone but also when we had lunch in Brussels two weeks ago," he said at a press conference in Brussels.
Rutte was asked whether NATO was consulted in advance about a defense cooperation agreement between Serbia and Hungary signed on April 1. He replied that the alliance was not consulted. Rutte also mentioned the cooperation agreement between Kosovo, Albania and Croatia.
