Hurricane Idalia moves into Georgia, residents warned to take action

Georgia's governor urged people to be ready as Hurricane Idalia moves there.
Georgia officials are staying alert as Hurricane Idalia moves through the state.
"It's a dangerous storm, people need to prepare, they need to be ready when it comes through," Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said at a news conference at the state's emergency operations center in Atlanta on Wednesday.
The governor said his administration had been in contact with the Federal Emergency Management Agency before the landfall.
Kemp said his office had reports of downed trees and power outages in the southern part of the state. The governor also said crews were working to clear congestion on Interstate 75 in south Georgia.
Hurricane Idalia slammed into Florida, bringing winds of 110 mph (175 km/h) and potentially life-threatening conditions. Many roads were flooded while about 250,000 residents were left without electricity.
