Wesley Clark: George Bush told Milosevic to 'immediately stop violence

At the Special Court in The Hague, American General Wesley Clark has begun his testimony in defense of Thaçi and others.

During his testimony, Clark mentioned the warning that George H. Bush had given Slobodan Milosevic at the time, that if he did not stop the violence against Kosovo Albanians immediately, then the US would retaliate.

"Initially when we started the negotiations I was not aware of this warning. The diplomats knew this. The public in general and those of us who worked with the military were not aware of the violence that was being directed against the Albanian population by the Serbian military. George H. Bush addressed Milosevic and told him to stop the violence immediately, or the US would retaliate. It was a reference that was used by the military forces to stop the violence against the Albanians of Kosovo ," Clark emphasized during his testimony.

Clark's testimony in The Hague is expected to last two days.

An American official is also present with him.
