Early parliamentary elections in Kosovo, deadline for coalition formation expires today

Today is the deadline for registered political parties to notify the CEC of their participation in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo, which will be held on December 28, 2025, through coalitions. The deadline began on November 24.

As of yesterday at 1:00 PM, the CEC has received notification of two coalitions:

PAI – PDAK – LPB, composed of the Ashkali Party for Integration (PAI), the Democratic Party of Ashkali of Kosovo (PDAK) and the Movement for Cooperation (LPB);

VAKAT, composed of the Democratic Party of Bosniaks (DSB), the Bosniak Party of Kosovo (BSK) and the Democratic Party of the Fatherland (DSV).

A coalition can be formed by at least two political parties. After certification, a party cannot withdraw from the coalition and cannot participate in elections as a member of another coalition or as a separate party.

Yesterday afternoon, the Justice Party also announced that it will compete on a list with the Democratic League of Kosovo.

It remains to be seen in the remaining hours until the end of the deadline whether the number of coalitions will increase, or whether in the December 28 elections citizens will only be able to vote for the coalitions formed so far.
