The Central Election Commission in Kosovo has decided that the election campaign for the early elections of December 28 will last 12 days, from December 17 to December 28, the day when voting will be held and at the same time there will be electoral silence.
The member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo in the CEC, Arianit Elshani, announced the dates for the application of observers and the certification of political entities. He said that the application period for observers begins on December 5 and ends on December 20.
"Registered political parties must declare their participation in the elections through coalitions in the period from November 24 to November 30. The application period for the certification of political entities will be from November 24 to November 30, this process is different from other processes, it is divided into two phases, it is about the certification of political entities and the certification of lists of candidates of political parties, as provided by the law, so there are two different deadlines.
And the issue of the list of candidates of certified political entities is carried out from November 24 to December 7. The drawing of lots takes place on December 8. The CEC makes the decision to appoint members of municipal election commissions on November 26 and the period of service of voters for changing voting centers begins from November 26 to December 6… The application period for the registration of voters outside Kosovo begins on November 26 and ends on December 6.
The voting period by mail begins on December 12 and ends on December 27 of this year. And the election campaign, which is important for political entities and all media observers, begins on December 17 and ends on December 28, so it is 12 days of campaigning for political entities,” said Elshani.
At today's CEC meeting, the final results of the municipal elections were also certified, while the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Kreshnik Radoniqi, announced the winners of the mayoral elections.
Elshani reacted to the result in South Mitrovica, however, he stressed that they will vote in favor of approving the results. Members of the Vetevendosje Movement have been against certifying the results for the municipal assemblies, where the Serb List has a majority of votes.
Radoniqi emphasized that the municipality of Istog remains outside the certification list, where the issue has been returned for re-examination by the ECAP.
