This is the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage

Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage.
The green light for gay marriage came after a historic parliamentary vote, which was hailed as a "victory" by LGBTQ+ rights activists.
The law passed the Senate with 130 votes in favor, 4 against, 18 abstentions. The law will be submitted to the king so that the legislation can come into force by the end of the year.
Proposed changes to the laws governing marriage effectively allow marriages between two people of the same sex.
Across the Asian continent, there are two other countries that allow same-sex marriage: Taiwan and Nepal.
The draft law already approved guarantees full legal, financial and medical rights for spouses, regardless of their gender.
In fact, the wording of the Civil Code has been changed, where the words "husband and wife" are no longer used in relation to weddings, but "individual" and "wife".
