China is home to the world's largest apartment complex, with over 20,000 residents in a single building. If you thought your New York building had a lot of tenants, think again, as one building in China is home to around 20,000 people, turning it into a small city in its own right.
The building in question is the Regent International Apartment Complex, located in Qianjiang Century City, Hangzhou's central business district. The S-shaped complex reaches 206 meters in height, has 5,000 apartments and offers 260,000 square meters of space.
A whole city inside a building
But it's not just apartments. The building has space to live, work and socialize, which means that in theory, residents never have to leave. Depending on where you stay, you'll find amenities that resemble a small city. A large dining hall, barbershops, beauty salons, supermarkets, swimming pools and internet cafes. The building has gone viral on social media thanks to TikTok videos showing off its interiors, with its sheer size impressing more than anything else.
