"I have never been convicted"/ Protester Ali Bruçi refutes

Protester Ali Bruçi has rejected the accusations of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has described him as a criminal.

In an interview for SYRI TV, with moderator Edvin Parruca, Bruçi stated that he has never been convicted and claimed that he was arrested after the October 13 protest, after he had come to the defense of two girls during a clash with the police.

Bruçi asked law enforcement institutions to investigate the allegations against him, while warning that he will pursue legal action against the prime minister.

Ali Bruçi: Greetings and respect, gratitude.

Edvin Parruca: Thank you for your time. Yes.

Ali Bruçi: I have been described as... I have been described as a criminal person that I don't even believe myself now, I say this with the utmost honesty. I am a participant, I have been in protest for 136 days, I have been on hunger strike for 3 days and I am under house arrest, I am currently under house arrest. I have a criminal record... I have a criminal record, if the camera focuses...

Edvin Parruca: Yes.

Ali Bruçi: ...that I am unconvicted, from 2020. I applied for new evidence today and was told that after 3 days I will receive it, to be able to use it as evidence. Here is the identity card... Ali Bruçi, here if the camera sees it.

Edvin Parruca: Yes, it's clear, yes.

Ali Bruçi: That's why on the 13th, I left work around 5 a.m. and like every day I went out with a flag, it's no coincidence that I did this, because I was a daily protester.

Edvin Parruca: This is how you are at the protest, yes, this is how we recognize you at the protest.

Ali Bruçi: Yes, I also did not go for violence, I did not go for violence. With the national symbol, this is also something special because it is a cultural heritage, the best of our years. I was arrested there too, I was raped by the police as a sign of kidnapping. I may have made a few blows, I defended myself, as they say in a word, like any other person can do this part. Do you understand me?

Edvin Parruca: Yes, you had, let's say, a clash with the police, yes.

Ali Bruçi: Po kjo ishte e padrejtë sepse unë realisht, po të gjenden ato filmimet e atyre, unë kam mbrojtur dy femra, me thënë të drejtën. Jam mbrojtur, kam dalë para policisë... Nuk i mbrojta unë se nuk ka... Po kam dalë para policisë, ‘Mos u merrni me gra e me fëmijë!’ i thashë unë. A më kupton?

Edvin Parruca: E qartë, pra ju nuk jeni as i dënuar akoma, as për këtë rast, as më përpara... Se për këtë rast jeni me masë sigurie arrest shtëpie.

Ali Bruçi: Jo jo, unë s'kam qenë i dënuar ndonjëherë në jetë... Vetëm po, me masë sigurie arrest shtëpie kam unë. Do vazhdojë procesi.

Ali Bruçi: Po, diçka e tillë, me datë 13.

Ali Bruçi: Nuk kam ndërhyrë, thjesht i kam mbrojtur.

A më kupton?

I ask all institutions to investigate me completely from A to Z, then I will personally deal with the Prime Minister from a legal perspective.

Edvin Parruca: So you say you will take action personally, you will take action legally... do you feel worried, violated, when you saw yourself on that list, how does it feel?

Ali Bruçi: I'm shocked because you call it a criminal organization, do you understand? It's something that doesn't... doesn't allow us... My morality doesn't allow me. They even did it to my grandfather at work during the communist system. They're doing the same thing to me, do you understand? It's unfair. And the reason they left me under house arrest... I'm the only one with a salary in the family, do you understand? How would it be... They've released the guy, they've released the bandits and criminals for that, and they keep me under house arrest. Do you understand me? I'm the head of the family and I'm... do you understand me? It's unfair.

Edvin Parruca: So they have also blocked you financially, economically, your entire family with this security measure they have given you.

Ali Bruçi: Absolutely. Every... I don't know how... The worst thing that could happen to someone for something like this. This guy comes out, says criminal organization. This is the most unfair thing that has ever happened to me, because he is a homeowner, he is the leader of the country, to accuse honest people who work and can't even make ends meet with the income they have.

Edvin Parruca: Clearly. Mr. Bruçi, thank you very much for these minutes and for the communication.

Ali Bruçi: Greetings, respect, gratitude. I have one more call for the students: do not give up! The moment I am released, I will be in protest again, participating as I have been every day with a national symbol. I will not defile this national symbol. If it is to fight for national lands and for... I am the first in line. I swear before God that I will be among the first to face the enemy. Not my people, I will beat my people, my brothers, my sisters. For no reason whatsoever. Respect, gratitude.

Edvin Parruca: Thank you, Mr. Bruçi. Thank you.

Po ndodh...
