The leader of the Opportunity Party, right-wing politician Agron Shehaj, has reacted amid grief over the passing of his father, Siri Shehaj. As newsbomb.al reported earlier this Friday, the MP's father has closed his eyes forever at the age of 83.
"Dear friends, after a difficult battle with a serious illness, my father, Siri Shehaj, passed away at the age of 83. His life was a daily struggle. He grew up an orphan, as when he was only 8 years old, his father, my grandfather, died in Burrel prison as a political prisoner.
"However, he found the strength to start everything over again, not for himself, but for us, his 3 children. He didn't want to leave Albania, but he wanted us to be free, to have a better life, to be educated and to be educated," writes Agron Shehaj.
The leader of the Opportunity Party says that since 1991, when his father decided to flee to Italy, immediately after the regime in Albania had fallen, he spent the last 35 years of his life in Bolzano, among a community of friends who respected and valued him for the noble man he was.
"He was my biggest motivator to return to Albania and was proud that I was doing what he once failed to do. Much of what I do today is also for him, for everything that that dark period did not allow him to accomplish. My father was my hero. The one who taught me, inspired me to never give up," writes Agron Shehaj.
He emphasizes that even though his father Siri Shehaj grew up an orphan, he left behind a large family of grandchildren, who will always remember him for the righteous and fighting man he was.
Agron Shehaj announces that the reception in Bolzano will be held on Tuesday, January 13 at the Sheraton Hotel, Bolzano, Italy, from 09:00-14:00, and the burial will take place on the same Tuesday, at 15:00, at the Bolzano city cemetery in Via Maso della Pieve. Meanwhile, in Vlora, the reception will be held on January 16.
