Lawyer Jordan Daci has reacted after his name was included in the list of candidates for member of the National Council of the Democratic Party.
In a post on social media, Daci says that he is not a member of the Democratic Party, has not submitted any request or consent to run, and had no prior knowledge of the inclusion of his name in this process.
Lawyer Daci's reaction:
PUBLIC STATEMENT
In connection with recently made public information, according to which my name has been proposed as a candidate for the National Council of the Democratic Party, I feel obliged to explain correctly and calmly that I am not a member of the Democratic Party, I have not submitted any request, consent or expression of will to run for office in its structures, and I had no prior knowledge of such a proposal.
While maintaining respect for any citizen or structure that may have evaluated my name, as well as thanking any proposer who may have acted in good faith, I must clearly state that I do not agree with the inclusion of my name in this process and I request that it not be considered as an expression of my personal, professional or public will.
Currently, my institutional and professional choice is related to the candidacy for judge in the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania. For this reason, I fully adhere to the constitutional principles of independence, impartiality, integrity and non-involvement in political activity, which are essential for any candidate who intends to serve the country in such a high constitutional function.
This clarification does not intend to create public debate, controversy or political misunderstanding, but only to avoid any incorrect interpretation of my position. I have not been and am not part of this political process, and my name should not be used or interpreted as a sign of affiliation, support or party commitment.
I will follow the institutional path of candidacy for the Constitutional Court with seriousness, humility and responsibility, with the conviction that, if the relevant organs of the nomination will entrust me with this task, I will serve the Republic of Albania only on the basis of the Constitution, law, independence and public interest.
