Ervin Salianji officially files request with the DP, opposes exclusion from the mayoral race

The former democratic MP has filed an official request with the Presidency of the Democratic Party of Albania and the Appeal and Statute Evaluation Commission, requesting the declaration of invalidity of any decision to expel him from the party, as well as the annulment of decision no. 120, dated May 1, 2026, of the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations.
In the voluminous document, Salianji claims that his candidacy for the presidency of the DP was illegally obstructed, stating that the documentation submitted physically, by post and email, was not taken into consideration. He also disputes the claims of his exclusion from membership and requests that any such decision, if any, be made available to him for the purpose of following statutory procedures.
In the request, Salianji also raises allegations of statutory inconsistencies in Sali Berisha's candidacy for the leadership of the DP, demanding a full review by the party's statutory bodies and the public holding of any hearing on the matter.
The document concludes with a request for the repeal of decisions that, according to Salijanj, conflict with the statute and the democratic principles of the party's functioning.
