FOX NEWS: Socialist Prime Minister Rama's government is under pressure! Citizens protest against 30 years of corruption of the political class

The government of Socialist Prime Minister Edi Rama is under increasing pressure as Albanians continue to take to the streets to demand his resignation, as well as that of opposition leader Sali Berisha, blaming them and their parties for some thirty years of corruption since the end of the communist regime in 1991.
The catalyst for the protests initially began over a multibillion-dollar luxury resort plan by Jared Kushner and his business partners, which aimed to create two resort properties through investment firm Affinity Partners, which would add about 10,000 hotel rooms and villas to Albania's coastal lands.
One planned location, the abandoned Sazan Island, is home to a former Soviet military base. Another property in Zvërnec is said to be home to the Vjosa-Nartë protected landscape where monk seals and flamingos make their homes and sea turtles nest.
Agim Nesho, Albania's former ambassador to the U.S. and the United Nations, told Fox News Digital that, "Contrary to some misinformation in the media, the protests in Albania are not against President Donald Trump's family and foreign investors like Jared Kushner. These investors are bringing $4 billion to Albania that will create jobs and opportunities for our youth."
“They are building on private land, the status of which was revoked years ago by Rama and his oligarchs. Global investors have standards and demonstrate accountability, and there is hope that they will show more care and consideration for the environment than Edi Rama and the business interests around him, who would instead build there themselves,” he said.
Nesho claimed that "After 12 years and at least three stolen elections, including last year's parliamentary elections which were not recognized by the United States and which gave Rama a supermajority that could change the laws and the constitution, Rama's days now appear to be numbered."
Eric Czuleger, editor-in-chief of The Under Report, has lived in Albania for five years and documented the growing protests. He told Fox News Digital that “Rama’s government has never been under such direct pressure from the Albanian people, and his response is instructive. At first, he denied the protests existed, claiming they were a few hundred people with an axe to grind. When they grew, international media forced local media to stop blacking out. Suddenly, the protests turned into a ‘hybrid war’ fueled by Iran and Russia.”

Abehsera tha se "e ardhmja e projektit në fund të fundit do të përcaktohet nga Shqipëria dhe populli shqiptar".
As the protests continue, Czuleger said Albanians are both “worried that nothing will happen” and “worried that something bad could happen” if the Rama government resigns. “If the leadership doesn’t change now, then people wonder if the corruption will ever stop,” he said. “If the leadership changes, then it’s possible that someone worse will come.” Czuleger said that “the protesters are tired” and “the news cycle is moving forward.” Noting that “the only thing that will bring change to the administration is patience, pressure and clarification of the movement’s goals.”
Albanian actor and artist Florjan Binaj told Fox News that the protests “are the biggest protests that have ever happened in Albania since 1991.” He called the atmosphere of the protest “incredibly powerful.”
Binaj said he plans to join the protests "for as long as he can," noting that "protesters want Rama's resignation" to pave the way for an alternative government.
Nesho added: "The protesters have risen up because of the fact that one of the poorest countries in Europe can count billions and billions in corruption from a government that does not hold itself accountable to anyone. It is difficult for the protesters to compromise and negotiate with Prime Minister Rama under these circumstances. The only way out is the resignation of the government and early elections under international observers."
