Competition within the SP, Erion Braçe: I have lost friends! Here's
Erion Braçe will continue to be a member of the Albanian Parliament, as he was the second most voted on the open list of the Socialist Party in Tirana. Invited to the show "This Week" on News24 moderated by Nisida Tufa, Braçe claimed that due to the system that was also competitive within the party, he has lost friends.

According to Braçe, "promoting yourself is a completely legitimate thing, but slandering others, especially within a party, is not normal, so I don't like this system for this reason as well."

Nisida Tufa: How was the campaign and competition this time?

Erjon Braçe : The open list was a double competition, a competition with the opposition in the first place, but also a competition within your own part, within your party. If the first is traditional, the second is definitely difficult, especially for me, because I have the principle that I do not want to lose friends and comrades for an electoral competition. In both aspects it became difficult, also due to the fact that the opposition was not non-existent as they say.

In unit 5, there was the entire spectrum of the opposition. On the other side, there were colleagues who had been in the area for four years, some even more than four years, while I had only been there for 2 months and a few days. I didn't have time to get to know Tirana, let alone campaign, despite living in Tirana, but I was focused on my electoral area (Divjakë).

Nisida Tufa: How did you experience it when you found out that you were on the open list?

Erjon Braçe : Each of us must carry a burden within our party. I had to carry a burden. I had two concerns. The first, the very peaceful separation with Divjaka. The second concern was the insufficient time. The open or closed list was not a problem at all.

Nisida Tufa: Didn't you feel the competition among colleagues?

Erjon Braçe : Of course I felt the challenge, but my biggest concern was not losing friends in this story. From Divjaka to Tirana I have lost friends. There is no triumph in politics, you can win a race, but after a week you can lose your popularity. There is no triumphant in politics. You have run a race, you have received a job contract and you go to work. So, I have no problem with the race, even within the party. Promoting yourself is a completely legitimate thing, but slandering others, especially within a party, is not normal. That is why I do not like this system for this reason.

Nisida Tufa: Have you had your own disappointments regarding this?

Erjon Braçe: Of course I have. I said it, as long as I have lost friends. The names don't matter. This is mine, it is personal. Of course it affected the campaign because it destabilizes you. Words like: what do you want with that, he won't be elected MP, Rama doesn't want him, he can't get the votes. We were there, we fought together, we stood by each other, what are you doing, for a MP seat?

Nisida Tufa : Did you have communication with the Prime Minister?

Erjon Braçe: Yes, the communication has only been about work. Normally this has been the concern. The second is exactly what I said: I am not used to arguing with people. He also made his intervention, as has been made public. I received a congratulatory message for the victory, according to his style, of course: Come on, congratulations, you have driven us crazy! I do not feel like a winner because I am me, but I feel like a winner because it is the SP.
