Journalist on DP protests: Reduced number of participants, no clear goals

Invited to News 24, journalist Lavdërim Lita spoke about the protest that the opposition will hold on March 22, emphasizing that the rallies are losing their character and purpose. He said that protests are necessary in a democracy, but clear objectives must be set.
"There are many reasons to protest and the DP does well to protest, because protest is the spice of democracy. The objectives have been different: they started with the demand for a technical government and I think the recent protests are being reduced to an electoral campaign within the DP, where Berisha keeps the militants charged, " said Lita.
Citizen participation in the protests is much lower than the number of votes received by the Democratic Party. However, Lita expressed optimism that the power of scandals can change the government.
"The citizens in the protests are much less compared to the votes of the DP. The protests with Molotov cocktails were more attractive to watch, even for us journalists, because we had more to comment on. From a political point of view, the SP seems solid because it has the numbers, but essentially there is no clear demand even within the DP for early elections or a technical government. They think they can continue for a long time by pushing files, like the one of the AKSHI. The power of scandals cannot change the government, it has become a clot. The expansion of the protest must come from outside ," he said.
