The Criminal Court makes a decision, sentences the DP deputy to prison

The Criminal Court has found DP MP Qani Xhafa guilty of committing the criminal offense of "Irregular Driving".

The Black Platoons accepted SPAK's request for his sentence to 9 months in prison, but it was reduced to 6 months after he benefited from a shortened trial.

This sentence was eventually converted into a 900 thousand lek fine, payment of which must be made within 10 days after the decision becomes final.

Democratic MP Qani Xhafa, on March 11, 2023, while drunk driving a Toyota vehicle with license plates AB 457 IJ, on "Qemal Stafa" Boulevard, Elbasan, lost control and went off the road, colliding with a street lighting pole.

"From the entirety of the investigative actions, it has resulted that on March 11, 2023, the defendant Qani Xhafa, currently a Member of Parliament in the Albanian Parliament, while drunk driving a Toyota vehicle with license plates AB 457 IJ, on "Qemal Stafa" Boulevard, Elbasan, lost control and went off the road, colliding with a street lighting pole. The accident caused minor material damage," SPAK said in a statement 4 months ago.

We recall that Qani Xhafa took over the mandate of MP after Luçiano Boçi left Parliament to run for mayor of Elbasan.
